Kombucha Tea Synonyms

The use of making and drinking Kombucha tea is spread over the whole world. Many peoples have given it many names. There is this very comprehensive book about Kombucha called: “Kombucha: Healthy Beverage and Natural Remedy from the Far East” written by Günther Frank.

Not only has mr Frank compiled a list of at least 84 different names for the in popularity growing beverage it is already the ninth edition and is available in many languages. A few of the different names of Kombucha tea:
Fungo-japon Kombucha, Fungus Japonicus, Kargasok Tea, Pichia Fermentans, Champignon de Longue Vie, Cembuya Orientalis, Brinum-Ssene, Japanes fungus, Japanese sponge, Russian fungus, Russian jelly, Combuchu, Tschambucco, Volga-Spring, Mo-Gu, Manchurian Tea, Teekwass, and Kwassan.

Kombucha Tea Recipe

What ingredients are necessary to make Kombucha tea, how to actually make the tea and more there is to know about making your own home made supply of the healthy, centuries old Kombucha tea can be found on this page. INGREDIENTS
For 1 litre Kombucha tea.
5 tablespoons = 1/3 cup

  • 3-5 tablespoons white sugar.
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons black tea (organic).
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons green tea (organic).
  • 1 litre water (Mineral water).
  • 100 ml of Kombucha tea, (as an acidic starter).
  • 1 piece of Kombucha plant. (about 4 inches in diameter.)

INSTRUCTIONS
Add the sugar to a glass bowl, dangle the tea bags over the side, then add boiling water. Use the tea bags to stir the liquid and dissolve the sugar. Leave the tea bags to steep until the tea has cooled. If you are using loose tea then steep the tea in a teapot, then mix with the sugar and boiled water in a bowl. Strain the herbs through muslin cloth.

Kombucha Scoby

When you hear people talking about the process of making Kombucha the term Scoby drops a lot. Scoby is an acronym for Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast.
